Acute Medicine Awareness Week

AMAW 2019 is confirmed for the 10th-14th June!

Acute Medicine Awareness Week has been and gone this year.

The concept is simple! Every year in June a week is nominated by the takeAIM Fellows and the Society for Acute Medicine (SAM). Then, Acute Medical Units up and down the country can pick a date within that week and register with SAM who will then send you goodie bags with merchandise such as bags, badges and balloons (contents may vary each year). You will also be able to download posters for you to use to help advertise your event and also various information leaflets about Acute Medicine and AMUs.

This is a great event for the whole multidisciplinary team to become involved in and is aimed to promote awareness to other health professionals and also the public at large!

There will be awareness raising ideas that you can use such as public tours of your unit, hosting a stand in a communal area to talk about acute medicine or setting up a multidisciplinary sporting event .

You can also use the event to help fundraise for your unit! Popular ideas have included cake sales, having a coffee morning, hosting a quiz night, organising a sports day, a continuous bikeathon or even a good old fashioned raffle!
