CAMW 2025 is next week – 15th September to 21st September 2025. In the lead up, we are out for videos of doctors in acute medicine saying why they still love the speciality. Have a look at our social media particularly with the hashtags #whyistillloveacutemedicine #flourishonthefrontline #CAMW25 #25yearsofacutemedicine.
TakeAIM’s theme for CAMW25 is wellbeing and there is a recent blog on this also.
Next week, I will be presenting at the Royal College of Emergency Medicine’s ACCS Career Day – with the topic of “Why Am I an Acute Medic?”. There will also be a breakout session and a question and answer panel discussion – it should be a great event.
Immediately after CAMW25 is SAM Manchester on 22nd and 23rd September, and Take AIM will have a stall, so please come and visit us and we can give you more information about our amazing speciality
There is much to celebrate about acute medicine. It truly is a fantastic speciality and is celebrating a milestone birthday this year. Its ever expanding and there is something in it for everyone. Its vbrant, dynamic and hands on and has opportunities to practice a range of clincal skills most especially point of care ultrasound – which is useful for both rapid diagnostics and also to guide interventions like pleural procedures, central line insertion and also investigations like lumbar punctures. There is also opportunities for special skills and interests which include echocardiography, medical education, research, leadership and management, stroke medicine and acute oncology; amongst many others.
